Dr. Michael Bennett practiced general dentistry for a 13 years but found that he was passionate about helping people with TMD, craniofacial pain, and sleep-disordered breathing. Because of his interest in this, he has limited his practice the last 6 years to treating only these issues, along with myofunctional orthodontics and other related conditions. Dr. Bennett works with other health professionals to bring improved health, relief of pain and a better sense of well-being to his patients.
He graduated in the top of his class in dental school in 1999 with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and received academic awards, including membership in the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in business administration. His formal education provided a wonderful springboard to pursuing hundreds of hours of continuing education since graduation from dental school. He has accumulated approximately 1500+ hours of extra training in different dental specialties, much of which has been specifically in the areas of TMJ, orthodontics and sleep-disordered breathing. He has received a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, which is an award that approximately two percent of general dentists receive.
Future dental health professionals are being influenced for good by Dr. Bennett. For the past 16 years he has been an assistant adjunct professor and guest speaker at Brigham Young University, instructing pre-dental students in various aspects of dentistry.
Dr. Bennett participates in continued education with local medical professionals. Monthly he meets with the other 32 licensed TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre owners to share case study presentations electronically with each other. Research, publication, literature reviews and collaborative efforts continue to be the focus for Dr. Bennett and all of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centres.
