Is the cone beam for all patients?
Cone beam (CBCT) technology and 3D reconstruction are some of today’s newest technologies and will assist in the diagnosis and treatment planning of case specific solutions in a wide variety of dentistry and general medicine cases. Although it may never replace periapical or bitewing radiographs it can provide vital information related to structural integrity, bone density, soft tissue pathology and relationship of dental structures. The utilization of cone beam technology has and will continue to advance dentistry. The appropriate use of cone beam imaging, utilizing a consistent case selection technique, will provide all dental professionals with an additional diagnostic imaging technique. Again, CBCT is useful for some but not all patients.
Weber State University, Department of Dental Hygiene has completely remodeled its 18 chair dental clinic and is providing CBCT images for your patients.
As a cost saving to you and your patients, beginning Sept 1st, your office can schedule CBCT in our clinic on Tuesday or Thursday by calling 801-626-6130.
At a cost of $125.00, due at the time of services, we will provide you with a CD with all images, the viewing software and the website for additional information.
The Department of Dental Hygiene has scheduled an open house on October 8, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, to showcase its new state of the art clinic, equipment and teaching technologies.
In order to facilitate the understanding and integration of 3D imaging and CBCT a six day course is being offered by the Weber State University Department of Dental Hygiene and the Department of Radiologic Science.
This course will focus on the benefits, techniques, case selection, interpretation and hands on utilization of the equipment.
The course will meet for two hours (2:00-4:00 pm) on Wednesday’s beginning September 9th and continue on September 23rd, October 14th, 28th, November 4th and 11th.
